Can you guarantee my position?
Much as we would love to be able to, unfortunately not. Not because we’re not sure of our service but because Google themselves say in their Webmaster Guidelines:
“Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a “special relationship” with Google, or advertise a “priority submit” to Google.”
How long does it take to get listed?
This really depends on a number of things – the competition for the phrases you have chosen, the age of your site and domain name, the work that has or hasn’t been done before we get hold of your site; all these are factors.
We’ve had some customers on the front page of Google within 1 week, others can take up to 6. Our own site took 4 weeks to get to number one on Google for the phrase ‘internet marketing expert’, another client toook 1 week to get there for ‘Crufts DVD’.
However. rest assured that we do everything we can to ensure that your site is up there as soon as possible!
Will I need to change my website?
It is very possible that we will want to change some aspects of your site – in most instances it is a case of changing background code and tweaking copy to be more keyphrase friendly, and perhaps adding some more pages and / or articles. Unless your site is 100% Flash, there is usually no need to get your web designer involved or change any aesthetics of your website. Most of our changes will not change the look of your site, and are included in our service cost.
What if my competitor comes to you?
We only take on one client per search phrase, so if you have (for example) ‘telemarketing uk’ then your competitor cannot have this, as this is not fair. They could, however, commission us to do work for them on other phrases you don’t have such as ‘telemarketing company UK’
Can I change my phrases after a few months?
You cannot change the phrases, as all of the initial work has been done for the phrases you have chosen – however, we do offer upgrades, so you can add different phrases as and when needed.
You only mention Google; what about the other search engines?
We monitor listings in Google, MSN and Yahoo – it is usually the case that sites that list well in Google do well in those search engines too. if you have a particular search engine that you would like us to monitor results in, then we are happy to do so if they allow reporting.
Can any business benefit from Search engine optimisation
Put bluntly, no. SEO is not the Holy Grail, it is part of the marketing mix. It may be that people aren’t searching for your products or services online, in which case there may not be much point in you paying to appear high up in the listings. If this is the case, or there is another reason that we think it won’t work for you, then we’ll tell you. At the end of the day, we want you to refer other people to us – you’re only going to do this if you’re happy with our services.
What is “Black Hat” SEO and do you practice it?
Wikipedia describes Black Hat SEO as “spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove them from their indices.” Black hat SEOs tend to use borderline spam techniques, and always run the risk of having sites banned by Google.
We do not condone and will not get involved in Black Hat practices.
What technical info will you need from me to get started?
We will need your FTP details, and access to any Content Management System you have in place. In some cases we can work without FTP details, if necessary, but we will need to liaise with your web designer if this is the case.
My site has been optimised already – what are you going to do differently?
The answer to this one is: probably a lot of things. We’ll look at what is and isn’t working for you and tweak and change what has already been done, but in most cases we’ll almost start from scratch, optimising in our own way. We;ll also look at te phrases you have been optimising for, and the work that your previous SEO consultant has done.
I think my site is banned from Google – can you help?
Yes we can. In the first instance we will need to confirm that your site is indeed banned, and not just penalised, then we need to put in place a Google Disaster Recovery Plan – email us for more information on this as it isn’t part of the Higher Google Listings service.
I don’t have time to spend on this – how much do I need to be involved?
You’ll need to have some input into the intiial stages of Keyphrase Research, in order to help us make sure we have the correct keyphrases to start the proces. After that you can leave it up to us, and we’ll keep you updated!
I have different language versions of my site – can you optimise in other languages?
Yes, we can optimise in any language as long as the keyphrases are provided to us in the language required.
My site is all in Flash and I want it to stay that way – can you help?
We can – please email for more details – email@example.com
Will you give me a full run down of all the work you have done on my site?
As this would take us longer to type up and explain the reasoning why than it would to actually do in the first place, no – the initial work includes the research we do on keywords and your competitors, the examination of your website, they analysing of that research and examination, the changes we have to make to the site (that could be many or could be few), the XML sitemap generation, the Web Master Tools account and reporting, and any offline submissions we choose / need to do.
The proof of our work is in the improvement of your listings, not in a list of things we’ve done.
